![]() ![]() Of course, you'd have to remind viewers that racial views have changed, but I always felt the African-American characters, like Stymie and Buckwheat, were among the most likeable and charming. The talkies were made, of course, largely during The Great Depression, and it was obvious people didn't have much money, and is interesting what children would do for entertainment when money was scarce, before the eras of computers, the Internet, cell phones and video games. ![]() ![]() Now, I think they are valuable because of the glimpse they can give children into a different world. The Little Rascals/Our Gang shorts are some of the best children's entertainment ever offered.
